2) Submit the cooperating superintendent agreement form. (e-mail or regular mail) to university supervisor at your earliest convenience (no later than 4 weeks after the beginning of the semester).
3) Complete work related to the superintendent's responsibilities (100 clock hours) prior to the last day of class.
4) Complete the following:
- Log Reflections and Educational Reading:
i. Keep a concise and specific log of activities experienced during the semester. Relate practicum experiences to the ISLLC Standards. At least ten of the twelve suggested activities in the Administrative Activity Categories must be addressed. Supporting evidence/samples (e.g., letters, research, surveys) that are produced should accompany the log submissions. Personal reflections should link to concept knowledge gained from prior administrative courses and practical application of that knowledge. Recommendations for next steps should also be included in the reflection log. In order to monitor progress, send Log I installation after you have completed 25 hours with your cooperating administrator. Log II installation is due once all hours are completed, but no later than the last day of class.
ii. Submit summaries (300-word minimum for each summary) of a AT LEAST six (6) professional articles or current literature read during the practicum semester. Reading material must pertain to educational administration and other educational leadership topics. Summary of articles/literature related to the student's project is encouraged. Summaries are due on or before the last day of class. Citations must be in APA format.
i. The focus of the project is determined by the student, cooperating superintendent, and the University practicum supervisor. The project must be developed, implemented, and results documented and submitted in final form. As noted in the course syllabus, the project must be tied to the ISLLC Standards and MUST be related to student achievement. As an example, let's suppose a student wanted to complete a project related to school construction. Then the research and focus of the project might center around the impact that school design has on student achievement. Another student may want to complete a project related to school finance. Then, related research project goals will need to exam effective use of financial resources that have a positive impact on student achievement.
The format of the final product will vary depending on the project. Final submissions should reflect the priority need that led to the project plan, the procedures of implementation, the final results, a log of hours, and a personal reflection of the project experience.
ii. Once the project topic/idea is determined and approved, the student and the university practicum supervisor will determine expectations of the final product submitted for assessment.
5. Make satisfactory progress, in the opinion of the professor and the cooperating administrator, toward handling administrative functions and assignments, including meeting deadlines and due dates. The evaluation form completed by the cooperating superintendent is to be submitted no later than the last day of class.
