ARTICLE/WORKSHOP/PROJECT PROPOSAL GUIDELINES

(Required for Graduate Students)

Educational Computing - Schack

Graduate students are required to complete one of the following:  a research paper, workshop, or project.  A written proposal must be approved in advance.

Here is what to include if you propose to write research paper:
1.   A tentative title.
2.   A one line topic statement.
3.  Briefly summarize the intended content of your article.
4.  Describe or sketch any figures, charts, and other graphics.  Will they be computer generated or produced by some other method?
5.  Why do you want to write about this topic?  What do you expect to learn?  Why will the article be of interest to other students, teachers, or users of the Education Computer Lab?
6.  How will you do the research for your article?  Will you be reviewing software?
7.  References (required for graduate credit).
8.  What new software will you investigate or use in preparation for this article?
9.  Will you have a coauthor?  Who?

or

Here is what to include if you propose to conduct a workshop:
1.    A brief description of the workshop.
2.    Intended audience.
3.  What must you learn to conduct this workshop?
4.  Briefly summarize the intended objectives of your workshop.
5.  Describe the software and/or instructional materials you intend to use.
6.  Include a tentative schedule showing number and length of sessions.
7.   Where will you conduct the workshop?  If you intend to use the lab in 213 GH, you must schedule the time in advance.
8.  Will you have a copresenter?  Who?

or

Here is what to include if you propose to conduct a project:
1.  Purpose or rationale for the project.  Will it be useful to you or someone else?
2.  A brief description of the project.
3.  What software will you use?
4.  What must you learn to do this project?
5.  What will be the outcome of this project?  A program?  A database or spreadsheet?  A report?  Original Instructional material?  Other?
