ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM

You will prepare written critiques of CURRICULUM  research articles. The instructor will determine the number of critiques that will be assigned.  Each critique will be transferred to the instructor. Each will be the equivalent of 2 – 3 pages in length. The purpose of this assignment is for you to become critical readers of curriculum research and to understand how current practice relates to research and practice advocated by KERA .

FORMAT

  1. Bibliographic information related to the article: author(s), title of the article, date, name of journal, volume numbers, etc. I want you to use the most recent publication of the American Psychological Association (APA), or a similar style manual. Whichever one you use be consistent throughout the critique and use the same one for each.
  2. Summary of the article(s) main point/procedures and conclusions/results.
  3. Your reaction to the article: questions that may arise, part that are unclear, ideas that your disagree with.
  4. The KERA connections: Determine specific KERA goals and academic expectations, which relate to the practices presented in the article. State the goal(s) and related academic expectation in the rest of your critique or give me the copy in class.

Complete your initial copy of the summary and critique on a word processor.  Then transfer the file through the File Transfer area of CourseInfo.
